We are all made up of five elements, of these, the four – air water fire and ether are universal and found in various forms throughout the Universe however, it is only the Earth element, synonymous with our planet that completes the panch-mahabhoots — five elements essential for creation.
Today is Earth day….but actually for us on the planet, every day has to be Earth day!
Bharatiye culture has always considered Natural Energies as deities and the Earth is viewed as Mother. Prithvi – Earth is the only planet that attracts every energy in accurate proportion be it sunlight or moonlight, for creation to happen. She is the cradle of life.
Traditionally, Bhoo Devi is the presiding deity of the Earth. She has various aspects that define her unique nature and position within creation.
The Earth element personifies dhairya — patience, non-judgemental
unconditional love and accepts all gracefully – everyone is equal for her, be
it a saint or sinner, matter or being. She loves all irrespective of their weaknesses
and faults. She takes everyone as they are with joy and humility and carries
the burden of their existence without resentment. She gives everything, even a
new birth and lets everyone play according to their sweet will……
Yet no one ever thanks her! And She, without complaining goes on loving caring and giving….
The best tribute to this divine Earth aspect is gratitude for her bounties and a sincere attempt to ingrain within ourselves her great qualities. Every mother is delighted when her children learn from her….for a mother knows only to give and never ask for anything in return!
Our culture dictates three debts of life that we need to pay back before we leave this planet. Debt towards the ancestors or parents is returned by serving them, gratitude towards the gurus and rishis is mitigated by working towards the cause of truth love karm and light and debt towards the devtas or deities is paid back by imbibing their attributes and to act accordingly. Human life is justified when we use all our mental physical and emotional capacities to their maximum to enhance the cause of Nature. We need to realise that we are from one source and all are made of the same five elements. We have to develop, polish and refine the attributes of these elements in our being.
In these days of COVID19, when Nature has proven that she is the ultimate, let us make Earth Day special by collectively pledging to work towards a more natural and harmonious co-existence that is in accordance with the Laws of Nature.
The journey of life is from the unmanifest elements into the manifest form and then back into the unmanifest……
Let us be worthy of our human form on this Divine Planet.
