Gandhiji’s tapasya of Truth gave us two potent concepts of ahimsa and khadi — symbols of karm yog, self-sufficiency and self-respect.
Both are unique as they encapsulate and represent the essence of satya sanatan dharm.
Ahimsa is well accepted all over the world, and really requires no patenting as it remains essentially Bharatiya.
Bharat is the land where hand-made artifacts, from fabrics to architecture, have spiritual beauty which has a significant impact on the soul.
Shri Krishn states that the whole universal mechanism moves with bhaav, feel.
If we look upon Khadi as our heritage, then we should all work towards preserving our superb heritage. Khadi is an outcome of our connection with nature, and has to be preserved through the proper channel of tradition which has now lost its pure luster. When our infrastructure is weak, other strong powers are definitely going to attack and seep in to claim their authority on it. Our traditions are that of satyam-shivam-sundaram – truthful, eternal and beautiful and meant to bring joy to all.
Sometimes while weaving, the weavers who are in sync with nature, with their concentration, dhyan, and good-will, or by simply singing soulful folk songs, transfer positive vibrations into their craft. A thing of the ‘soil’ thus turns into a thing for the ‘soul’.
Regarding people patenting khadi or people using this name to sell their products abroad, we need to make our line bigger so that everyone knows and realises that it belongs to our soil. Let us be known as a nation of khadi weavers and wearers by making it a practical reality. Just like Bharat is remembered as a land of Krishn, Buddha and many other evolved souls, let it be known as the land of khadi also.
Gandhiji made spinning charkha and weaving khadi a strong brahmastra, weapon, to remove foreign regime, so why can’t it be a strong weapon for us to cut all unwanted outside oppression and exploitation. Now the time for talks and intellectual discussions is up; silent revolution is the requirement of the Time for Bharat to resurrect its glorious past.
Actually, our own people have done more harm to khadi by collecting the best of the weaves for their own benefit, and not promoting or making them available to others for the progress of the weavers. We should be able to relate to the beauty of weavers’ craftsmanship. The new designs or patterns should be made available to common people, too, to entice them into using khadi. So, the purity, clarity and beauty of the crafts and khadi are to be realised by the masses also. Also, it is the duty of all evolved souls to make their followers aware of truth of our gracious tradition of weaving, the magic of khadi — hand woven fabric. Spreading the message is better than possessing it.
Khadi belongs to Bharat and became the medium to free Bharat. This signifies that truthful traditions have a lot of strength. When preserved and followed with sincerity, they have the potential to keep all unwanted intrusions at bay.
It is natural law that Dharm protects those who protect Dharm. So save Khadi and Khadi will save us.
Oneness and welfare of humanity as a whole and Nature’s Laws are at the core of true Sanatan Dharm.
Yoga and Ayurveda are synonymous with Bharat, but some of those who are tasting the potential and significance of these now wish to hold on to them as spiritual wisdom of their own.
Let it be, Nature knows how to complete the circle of Truth.
What has germinated here on Bharat Bhumi — from the Vedas to Upanishads to the Geeta — an outcome of sanatan satya, eternal truth, is meant to flow freely eternally. It may seem for a while that mind calculations and commercialisation of the western mind is overpowering, but Truth is Truth and no one can claim it, because it can be realised only by practising truth, love, karm, and light, and truth always prevails — satyamev jayate.
