PRANAM DEVALAYA

According to Sanatan Dharm, the Supreme is present in each and every molecule of the Universe. As evolved souls state, it is in everyone’s heart. That is why we feel Divine is always there with us, to love us, guide us and offer solace in times of strife.

But since the Supreme is nirgun, without any form, it is difficult to concentrate on and feel assured about. So, there is a tradition of making beautiful symbolic idols - murtis and paintings. These are placed on pedestals in temples and homes and treated as auspicious beings, like most coveted guests. As the saying goes -- ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’, the guest is the deity.

Since the deity in our mandir, temple is permanently established, we try to offer our best to THAT -- perfect space, special clothes and delicious prasad…everything befitting the status of the most precious and cherished Parmeshwar, supreme being.

Temple deities are often chosen according to our psyche, with whom we can relate to the most and sometimes according to the time requirement or energy required. Igniting these deities and the act of worshipping them is a psychiatric treatment, healing and providing a sense of protection. We offer all our sorrows, worries, tensions and in the bargain get a sense of relief, release and peace.

In some homes, worshipped deities are treated like living beings and spoken about in terms befitting a close friend, sakha. The first bit of food prepared is offered to them. Every activity of these deities is celebrated with joyous fervour. All their elaborate requirements -- from clothes, chariots, to even beds are made with the most beautiful traditional crafts of the region. Their shringaar, adornment is taken care of to the minutest detail. Offering the most exquisite things enhances the joy and satisfaction of the worshipper, imparting peace. Everyone cherishes to have darshan of the Divine -- a magnificent and wonderous experience.

From the asans, seats to attires, thaal covers to covers for holy scriptures, chunris and chownkis, all are designed with the most eye-catching workmanship that carries the beautiful feel of devotion, offering and surrender. That is why everyone who views the deity has an enhanced feel of peace and bliss. It helps in spreading goodwill, positivity and joy all around.

Keeping this in mind, Pranam has ventured into offering curated products related to our unique rituals, using traditional skills, fine fabrics and craftsmanship. Temple crafts not only provide livelihood but are also sources of continuity of our intangible cultural and spiritual heritage.

These products are created under the aegis of our mentor and founder Meena Om, who has travelled extensively and observed and experienced almost all temples and dhaams of Bharat. Her insights and inputs have helped us craft products that are full of grace, beauty and carry auspicious vibrations.

Our vision is to revive and popularise temple crafts so that there is continuity of skill and growth for the artisans. Since centuries we have offered our traditional crafts to the Divine, doing His satkaar, honour, transforming the darshan of the Supreme deity to a divine anubhuti, feel.
