Does Gita incite violence?

  • Post Author:

There is a raging debate on social media these days that asks the following question - 'Krishna says in the Gita that even hurting someone’s heart is violence, but how come an avatar who is a promoter of love incites Arjun to fight? Does Gita incite violence?' The Mahabharat is actually a struggle for righteousness to survive so humanity can benefit in the long run, so imperfection does not thrive. The Kauravas and their clan did grave wrongs -- they tried to kill the Pandavas on several occasions, trapped them an the house made of lac and then burnt it down; tried to insult them and disrobe Draupadi, their wife; cheated the Pandavas out of their kingdom through a game of dice and did not give them their rightful share of the kingdom. So this kind of adharm had to end one day, perfection had to surface so that the…

Three Mahadevis and the the Cycle of Time

  • Post Author:

Be aware O’ being! Use your intelligence to read and understand the message of time and awaken your sleeping wisdom. You are steeped in so much laziness, so much comfort that you cannot even see the legs of your own bed on fire! There are four yugas, times cycles or ages and each yug has three symbolic reigning divine powers. First, when the yug just begins, Mahasaraswati is predominant. Since the yug is still in its infancy, learning happens, wisdom and knowledge of science are gained for overall progress. Till this time, Lakshmi is not so dominant. Earlier, writers, thinkers, teachers were not deluded by the opulence of Lakshmi. Saraswati is served by way of sadhna or penance. At the time of youth of the yug, Mahalakshmi’s benevolence is showered on this very gyan and dhyan and slowly Lakshmi starts dominating and Saraswati starts to be traded and the yug’s…

The Irony of Cowherds and Cow Protection

  • Post Author:

In the name of cow protection and propagation and rearing,  samvardhan many divine qualities of gau mata are highlighted. From various platforms the meaning and importance of gau mata in Bharatiya culture, also know as a manifestation of kamdhenu - ''from whom all that is desired is drawn” or "the cow of plenty" are often heard. Suddenly many learned people and cow-worshippers are involved in this cause with all their might, just like many guru-swamis are engrossed in pravachans and kathas to save dharm. Gau mata, without a doubt, is a priceless legacy of Bharat, and every learned, evolved and aware Bharatiya knows its importance well. But can the problem of protecting the indigenous cow be solved by simply creating so many NGO’s, hunger fasts, protesting through dharnas and speeches from grand decorated podiums. To solve this problem, first we have to go to the root of the issue, which…

Save Khadi and Khadi will save you!

  • Post Author:

Gandhiji’s tapasya of Truth gave us two potent concepts of ahimsa and khadi -- symbols of karm yog, self-sufficiency and self-respect. Both are unique as they encapsulate and represent the essence of satya sanatan dharm. Ahimsa is well accepted all over the world, and really requires no patenting as it remains essentially Bharatiya. Bharat is the land where hand-made artifacts, from fabrics to architecture, have  spiritual beauty which has a significant impact on the soul. Shri Krishn states that the whole universal mechanism moves with bhaav, feel. If we look upon Khadi as our heritage, then we should all work towards preserving our superb heritage. Khadi is an outcome of our connection with nature, and has to be preserved through the proper channel of tradition which has now lost its pure luster. When our infrastructure is weak, other strong powers are definitely going to attack and seep in to claim…

Spiritual Mentor Meena Om who was also born on October 2nd talks to Satsangh about how she grew up in Sabarmati Ashram under the fond tutelage of Gandhiji and how his values have influenced her life… Meena Didi, You grew up in Sabarmati Ashram. Not only that, you also share the same Janamdin or birthday with Gandhiji. [Laughing] I have made my Janamdin into Pranam Foundation Day. Pranam is a movement like Gandhiji’s movement. Gandhiji liberated the country. Now, we must liberate the soul. This is where Pranam plays a role. Gandhiji sacrificed his whole life for the liberation of the country, but now our country is facing innumerable problems… Yes, there is so much ignorance, but to have the right understanding of this, we must be very conscious, aware and awake. The moment we are aware and rooted in truth, love, karm and light, all our problems will get solved.…

Energy – The Infinite Reservoir

  • Post Author:

The soul is condensed manifestation of energy. It is a collection of Universal energies that have been compacted and formatted to form ‘soul’ in living organisms. The soul behaves according to the external form in which it resides, much like a battery, which does not have any agenda of its own, it merely provides energy to perform tasks or ‘karms’ according to the mechanism it is attached to. Hence, energy in the human body becomes SOUL. In reality, the soul is captive in the human form and is always yearning to get liberated. Mental hindrances create discomfort. As stated in the Geeta, when a person has liberated himself out of mind tuning, by constant SADHANA, only then the SOUL IS HAPPY and continues to reside in THE BODY TILL THE SPECIAL MISSION OF THAT BODY IS accomplished ON EARTH. The past few years have seen the grilling of spirituality on…

Be A Good Human

  • Post Author:

We have to justify this life by being a true human. How we with others should also reflect our true human behaviour. We have to realise that we are from one source and that we all are made of the same five elements – Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Space. We have to develop, polish and refine the qualities of these five elements in our being.  For example, the Earth denotes patience, gives shelter to all, be it a saint or a sinner. Air lets life happen. Water stands for compassion. Fire burns imperfections, and as its flames always go upwards, we too should grow and evolve upwards. Space gives protection and a sense of belonging.  There are so many religions and religious sects fighting with each other, calling themselves superior and displaying no compassion or tolerance for the others. They must know that there is a place for everyone…

Depression is not a disease!

  • Post Author:

Vishaad – Aatm Manthan Ke Shivir O human, listen and understand this truth with dhyan. Depression is not an illness or disease. It is a plateau given by Nature to know the true meaning and importance of detachment. In the complete life cycle of a human being, state of depression is sure to happen at least 7 to 10 times, at an interval of 8 to12 years. The ashrams of our Vedic culture are based on this reality and mental state. This is a unique and miraculous law of Nature. In the state of depression, the human mind is disillusioned and astonished by worldly experiences. It is detached and is lost in its own world. The mind is either agitated and indulges in self pity and may even think of suicide, or as a result of aatm-manthan, self-analysis, it could gather itself, and determined with new enthusiasm, give truthful direction…

GANESH CHATURTHI

  • Post Author:

Let’s Be Ganesha To Each Other The clay Ganesha murtis that you bring home for Ganesh Chaturthi take several weeks to be crafted out of clay, moulded, dried, smoothened, painted, decorated – before you can pray to them asking to remove all hurdles to your life; but what about you?
